PSL 10: A Milestone Event

PSL Chief Executive Salman Naseer expressed his enthusiasm for the landmark tenth season. “We are thrilled to officially announce the schedule for the historic 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League. Over the past decade, the HBL PSL has grown into a globally recognized tournament, showcasing the best of Pakistan’s cricketing talent,” Naseer stated in an official press release.

Adding to the excitement, an exhibition match will be held in Peshawar on April 8, just three days before the tournament begins. The teams for this special match are yet to be announced. “As part of our commitment to expanding the reach of the HBL PSL, we are delighted to host an exhibition match in Peshawar, which is a significant step in bringing top-tier cricket to the city,” Naseer added.

New PSL Scheduling & Expansion Plans

Starting this year, the PSL will be played in the April-May window, aligning with the Indian Premier League (IPL). This adjustment accommodates the ongoing Champions Trophy, which occupies the league’s traditional February-March slot. Moving forward, the PSL will permanently shift to this new timeframe due to the scheduling impact of the International League T20 (ILT20) and the SA20.

In another significant development, this season marks the final edition of the PSL as a six-team tournament. From 2026 onwards, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the existing franchise owners have agreed to expand the league by adding two new teams. While the cities for these new teams have not yet been revealed, potential changes may arise as the original ten-year lease agreements with franchise owners expire in 2025. Existing owners will have the right of first refusal in the event of any ownership shifts.

With a decade of thrilling cricket and global recognition, PSL 10 promises to be a landmark season, captivating fans and elevating Pakistan’s premier T20 league to new heights.
